YARD SALES

This little red table was a blast to work on and looks great in ASCPs Emperors Silk.
We found the table at a quaint country yard sale recently with a few wiggly bits that needed fixing.
As a matter of fact everything I have used to stage these photos with was found at a yard sale.

Did you know George had NEVER been to a yard sale before we met?
Now it is one of our favorite things to do together. We discuss strategies every Friday
night and get up early every Saturday morning to get a jump on treasure hunting.

We are an amazing team in most everything we do, however we do not navigate in a vehicle well. I
could be a race car driver and hes been a courier driver for way too long so, tempers flare easily
and insults are hurled back and forth but thats about the point when we start to laugh at each other
 and all is forgiven.

STAGING SEWING MACHINE PHOTOS

Staging photos can be fun, it is very creative, and it can also be extremely fulfilling.

For me and our space staging my furniture is extremely labour intensive cause we are in a trailer and
everything has to move. Book shelves, closets, desk, lamps, you name it, it all must find a temporary
home while I make things look amazing in front of the camera.

I recall one Friday evening I was staging in the showroom, and during the furniture moving part
a large piece was pushed in front of our front door to get it out of my way.
I had gotten all the pictures I needed but was tired by the end and retired to spend time with George.
Saturday morning comes and we fly out the back door to go yard saling. The day ends up being 10
hrs on the road and we wrap it up by scheduling a customer to come visit the showroom in an hour.
Hold on  ... we cant even get into the showroom the door is blocked and nothing is set up in there!!!
Not to mention we are still 30 minutes from home.
 CRAP!!!

In the end we make it work, thats what George and I do.
Some days I put off photographing cause Im just not in the mood. So it ends up being worse for the
next time cause Ill have to do 2 shoots. I even did 3 shoots in one afternoon this week because so
much is getting completed. That was a good day and it ended up being a lot of fun.

Another huge issue with staging is having all the pretty things in the right color and shape
to add to the picture. I waiting 6 months to use this antique chandelier in a shoot. When you
add something to a photo you better be prepared for someone to ask for it.
In this case the chandelier ended up going with the console.

Last summer I did a week long photo shoot for .... drum roll please
Janome

They had started working towards an on line shopping experience for their customers
and asked me to take lovely pictures of their machines. One of the amazing and friendly ladies
who work for Janome is also a subscriber of this blog and that is how they contacted me.

The colorful photos near the bottom of each model listing are the pics I took.

I got to do a shoot with each model and set up all sorts of different
scenes including this one with a Union Jack dresser I had painted.

NEW CHINA NEW BOOK SHELF AND THE WAY WE LIKE TO LIVE

For several weeks we have been searching for some new bowls on our Saturday morning outings.
Some of our soup bowls have broken and we found ourselves constantly frustrated without
the same amount of dishes as we were use to. Im happy to say that last Saturday we finally found
some new bowls we really really liked.

Our new English China bowls

Our every day dishes are mostly second hand finds that we fall in love with.
We have 6 of this and 4 of that and we prefer it that way.
We once bought a box of country yellow mugs with matching salad plates and for good measure
two additional plates with the same pattern but in green.

We have also found some unusually shaped pieces, including this ginkgo plate and cabbage bowl.

But most of all we like purchasing fun patterned pieces that we have learned
not to be afraid of and to enjoy using them every day.

We ended up paying $2 each at a yard sale for our new bowls,
we simple couldnt resist the pink thistle design.

Beer Pong Table

Alot of my Friends enjoy the occasional game of beer pong. Its basically a game played with Solo cups, Ping Pong balls and beer. You put beer in the cups and put them in a pyramid shape on either side of an eight foot table. Then two teams alternate turn throwing a ping pong ball into the opponents cups of beers and any cups they miss the other team has to drink them. The game keeps going until one team has run out of cups and they loose and have to drink whatever beer is left in the winners cups.

Anyways, people always seem to be using a flimsy folding table that is either to short, to soft (the balls cant bounce for a special shot), or just not ideal for the game. So my buddy wanted a table made just for beer pong and that is just what I built him.

The table is eight foot long and two foot wide. This one is built with select grade pine to be both affordable but good looking. The entire table was coated with polyurethane with about 6 coats on the top of the table and probably four everywhere else except underneath the table top where there is only one coat. It works great and the balls bounce pretty good on it too. It only cost about $150 to build counting lumber, poly, pocket hole screws, etc.
